July 26, 2011 – Jaspers Port back on track
After concerns raised by South Carolina ports officials put it on hold for nearly six months, the proposed bi-state Jasper Ocean Terminal seems to be back on track.
The two-state Joint Project Office board voted Monday to allocate $1 million in the next year to move forward with studies needed to build the deepwater container terminal in Jasper County on the South Carolina side of the Savannah River.
